Online services make or break a console these days, as almost every new gamer wants to connect his or her device to the Internet and reap the benefits by enjoying quality experiences and being able to interact with friends or family.

One of the ways Sony is trying to draw people to its PlayStation 3 console is the Home online service, which tries to offer a dynamic social network for all gamers where they can interact, play mini games and find other people with whom to start new, full-fledged ones.

Part of the continuous support from the Japanese company for the service is a brand-new update, announced by the community manager on the PlayStation Blog. This one is particularly special, as it will bring the Movie Theater into Home. It will boast a new ten-screen layout, a new lobby and the ability to unlock special rewards from the screening rooms. New PS3-related content from developers or from the PlayStation blog will be featured on this multitude of screens. Also, full-length TV shows or movies might be a possibility.

Arcade fans will definitely enjoy a new Burn Zombie Burn space, which will be set in a cartoony graveyard, where you will be able to watch videos from the game, play a zombie-infested maze mini-game and get exclusive rewards.

Another interesting update hitting this Friday is a special space and event centered on the new PlayStation Network game Fat Princess. Dubbed the “Quest for Cake,” it will be based on the multiplayer game and will be very similar to a scavenger quest, as Home users need to go around the space and collect pieces of cake for their princess. Upon finding all of them, they will receive a special award, in the form of a throne for their personal apartments.

Last but not least, the community manager teased MotorStorm fans about the functionality of game launching for the Pacific Rift iteration of the offroad racer. He also said that in the following weeks more content would arrive and make racers extremely happy.

Overall, a pretty big update, which will make Home users quite happy once more. Here's a video of the new Fat Princess space in Home.
