Holiday Inn is revamping its image and has come up with the most original idea of doing so, with the help of world-record holder cardstacker Bryan Berg. The Key Card Hotel is a 400 sq ft construction in Manhattan and it’s entirely made of Holiday Inn key cards, it weighs two tons and promises visitors an experience they will never forget, HotelChatter says.

The Key Card Hotel, made of no less than 200,000 plastic slips that took four months to put together and representing Berg’s biggest challenge to date, includes a guest bedroom, a bathroom and a lobby, all of them fully equipped with amenities also made of key cards. Bed linen, carpets, towels and even toilets are made of the same material so, if you ever wanted to see what discarded plastic slips are good for, New York is the best place to be right now if you’re also in the mood for some traveling.

Those interested would better hurry, though, since the Key Card Hotel is open only until September 21, with the first 250 guests receiving a free stay for a night at any Holiday Inn hotel around the world, also as part of the campaign to reinvent the Holiday Inn brand, HotelChatter says. “This is my largest card-stacking challenge to date and the only card creation I have ever made at full human scale.” Berg is quoted as saying of his latest creation.

“It’s made of more than 200,000 Holiday Inn key cards, weighs 4,000 pounds, and took four months to construct. It’s the largest card structure Berg has ever built. (Even though he’s created a few city skylines, including Vegas.) Berg will also build a freestanding 9-ft. replica of New York’s Empire State Building in the lobby of the Key Card Hotel, using Holiday Inn branded playing cards.” HotelChatter further explains of the unique construction.

Although promo shots for the Key Card Hotel show Berg sitting on furniture items he made of the discarded key cards, it’s best to assume that visitors won’t be allowed to go crazy in the hotel room. Still, the experience will probably compensate for this shortcoming.
