14 DAY TRIAL // Hitachi has just announced the expansion of its line of portable hard drives with the addition of three new models, targeted at customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Designed to meet the requirements of road warriors, prosumers and SOHO users, the new drives offer a choice for portability, high-capacity storage and data protection, thanks to the adoption of high-quality materials and security technologies to provide end-users with a noteworthy alternative for storing and backing up their digital content.
The new drives are available for both desktop and portable computer systems and include the SimpleDrive desktop solution, the Portable Rugged Drive and the Stylish Portable Drive. Kicking off with the larger SimpleDrive desktop external drive, users will be able to choose from a range of capacities, including 500GB, 1TB and 2TB, which will be made available on a solution that is encased in an anodized aluminum enclosure, featuring a traditional USB 2.0 interface.
Hitachi's new lineup also includes the aforementioned Portable Rugged Drive, which will provide users with a lower storage capacity, with options including 320GB or 500GB. However, it compensates for that by offering a water- and shock-resistant design, while the TrueTrack technology is said to provide the necessary data protection for when it is mishandled. The drive also comes with a foldaway USB cable, enabling users to easily store and back up data via a traditional USB port.
Finally, Hitachi's new solutions for the EMEA region include the Stylish Portable Drive, also featuring a USB 2.0 interface and being available in two flavors, namely the 320GB blue dusk model and the 500GB carbon fiber one. Unfortunately, we have no details about the pricing info on any of these external storage solutions, but they should be available before this holiday season.
