Increased capacity and storage for computer users

Hitachi, one of the world's leading vendors of storage products, has announced today the launch of its latest Deskstar hard disk drive, coming as the world's first 2TB 7200RPM hard disk drive. Joining leading industry players like Seagate and Western Digital, Hitachi is now shipping its high-capacity HDDs, coming to provide computer users with a choice for a low-power and eco-friendly storage solution, ready to deliver a massive 2TB of storage space. According to the company, the Deskstar 7K2000 boasts a number of impressive features and is ready to provide users with a choice for a high-performance storage solution.

“The new Deskstar 7K2000 reflects our ongoing commitment to provide customers, channel partners and OEMs with proven, reliable solutions for enabling desktop computers, gaming systems, workstations and desktop RAID arrays,” said Brendan Collins, vice president of marketing, Hitachi GST. “At Hitachi, we continue to offer one of the broadest product lines in the world with a focus on delivering industry-leading hard drives that meet the reliability, performance, capacity and power needs of a variety of traditional and emerging market segments.”   Featuring the standard SATA 3Gb/s interface and a desktop-ready 3.5-inch form factor, the new Deskstar 7K2000 will provide users with a large-capacity storage space, of up 2TB, the highest-capacity storage solution in a single hard drive. In an attempt to provide users with a high level of performance, the new drive has been featured with a rotational speed of 7200RPM and 32MB data buffer, features that are meant to boost the computer system's storage performance. When idle, the new Hitachi 3.5-inch hard disk is said to consume 7.5W.

In addition to the new Deskstar 7K2000, the company also announced that it would refresh its mainstream desktop hard drive family, providing users with drives that boast 500GB per platter and coming in capacities that range from 160GB to 1TB.
