The holiday season is pretty much over, which can only mean one thing: the time has come for people to get rid of the Christmas trees they welcomed into their homes just a couple of weeks ago.

Of the Christmas trees abandoned by people in the UK, some made it to the Linton Zoological Gardens in Cambridge, where they became toys for lions living in captivity at this wildlife sanctuary.

Apparently, lions are quite fond of Christmas trees and simply love playing with them or even chewing on their branches. Check out the photos accompanying this article if you doubt that this is the case.

I don't know about you, but I for one am quite convinced that the feline featured in them is pretty much having the time of its life. In fact, it seems to me that it would not part with its tree for anything in the world.

DM tells us that, of the Christmas trees that are donated to the Linton Zoological Gardens by regular folks who no longer have any use for them, not all become toys for lions and other big cats living at this facility.

On the contrary, those that still have roots are replanted and others are burned to help warm the wildlife park's many buildings.
