While WhatsApp has been MIA in the Windows Phone Store for almost two weeks, some of its competitors have managed to attract more users and Hike Messenger is one the services that has increased its user database lately.

The recently launched Telegram Messenger is another IM that has got quite a few users since WhatsApp was pulled from the store, as well as many other similar apps.

Anyway, it looks like soon after WhatsApp got back in the Windows Phone Store, Hike Messenger developers decided to improve their application with new features and improvements, as well as a new design.

The new update comes right on time, as some newly acquired users may be tempted to go back to using WhatsApp instead of Hike Messenger.

Well, the latest version of Hike Messenger will make it harder for new users to switch to another IM. First of all, the update brings a completely revamped user interface, which is meant to make it easier and simpler for users to message their close friends.

Those who have already used the application for quite some time will also notice that the developers gave their timeline, user profile info page and group info page a new design as well.

According to the developers, thanks to a few under the hood improvements, Hike Messenger is now supposed to work better on EDGE networks. Lots of tweaking and bug fixes have been included in the update to make messaging faster.

Next in line, there’s a new Sports Sticker category and 4 new amazing chat themes. A new feature has been added that allows users to forward a message to multiple friends. You can forward a picture or video to many friends simultaneously.

Speaking of which, the developers have confirmed that they have redesigned the way users forward messages and media to their friends. Thanks to the new improvements, forwarding messages is now faster, smarter and has a new look.

Last but not least, the good folks at Hike have included a turn off switch for sending Nudges. Users afraid that they would accidentally keep nudging their friends won’t have to worry anymore as the developers have made it possible to disable double tapping to send nudges.

Those who already have the application installed on their devices should hit the update button, while new users who want to try it out can now download Hike Messenger for Windows Phone 2.6.0.0 for free via Windows Phone Store.

Keep in mind that the instant messenger should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 7.5 and up (including Windows Phone 8.1).
