14 DAY TRIAL // Patriot Memory announced its latest line of products consisting of two latest generation DDR3 memory modules which are aimed at both gamers and overclockers as well as mainstream computer users. As high memory frequencies come at the expanse of latencies, one memory kit from Patriot offers high running frequencies, while the other is centered around offering the best possible latencies as it sacrifices some speed.
Included in the Extreme Performance family of products from Patriot Memory, the two new kits, the PC3-12800 Low Latency and the PC3-15000 Low Latency memory modules are offering a level of performance that exceeds the officially supported PC3-8500 standard. According to the news site xbitlabs, one of the Patriot memory kits, the Extreme Performance PC3-12800 Low Latency module comes with a running frequency of 1600MHz and CL7 7-7-18 latency settings with the standard 1.8V voltage, while the other, more frequency focused memory, the PC3-15000 Low Latency reaches 1866MHz while having slight higher timings like CL8 8-8-20 with 1.9V voltage settings.
Even if Patriot's new memory modules are exceeding the official JEDEC specifications for frequency and timings, the manufacturers choose not to increase the voltage too much over the DDR3's standard 1.8V, so the new Extreme Performance memory kits are not in the range of 2.0V or 2.1V like some of the competing products out there. "Having the fastest DDR3 1866MHz modules on the market demonstrates Patriot's leadership in the memory marketplace. Patriot will continue to push the envelope to develop and bring the fastest and highest quality memory to our customers," said Les Henry, technical director of Patriot Memory.
The new Patriot Memory's kits are manufactured using a new design for printed circuit boards and they are using a patented heat-spreading technology, the Patriot Aluminum Bladed Heat Shield, which offers improved memory module stability and performance while operating under extreme pressure and overclocking conditions. Like all high performance, high-end memory products, the two new Patriot memory modules, the PC3-12800 Low Latency and the PC3-15000 Low Latency, come backed up with a lifetime warranty and they are RoHS compliant.
