Kojima Productions is finally ready to move to multi-platform releases. Legendary designer Hideo Kojima's outfit has been developing games mainly for Sony's platforms, but has decided that it is high time to bring their product other audiences as well.

Speaking to VideoGamer, Shigenobu Matsuyama, the creative director for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, has said that his recent visit at Gamescom 2010 convinced him of the great potential of the Xbox 360 and the PC.

He said that embracing the Xbox 360 was “very important for the future of Japanese publishing. We see publishers - Capcom have started a little bit earlier than us - and I can say most of the Japanese studios have seen the importance of going multi-platform, and our studio as well.

“I think we're now really ready to go multi-platform at once, I mean development cycle wise. I think this will be a normal trend for Japanese studios in the future.”

Giving some attention to PC gamers is also a good idea, according to Matsuyama, given the extent of the market in Europe.

“What surprised me when I came to Germany were also the PC games," he said. "Living in Japan, PC games are not really mainstream, but seeing them here I thought that this PC area is also a place that we need to consider more seriously,” he explained.

Kojima Productions has already announced that it would be developing Metal Gear Solid: Rising also for the Xbox 360 and the PC, alongside the usual PlayStation 3.

This new entry in the Metal Gear universe focuses on Raiden, who is now a very strong cyborg. Not much is known about the title at this time, but the short trailer that was shown during the 2010 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo proved to be quite exciting.

No release date has been mentioned yet, but Kojima Productions is aiming for a 2011 launch for Metal Gear Solid: Rising.
