Following the recent releases of the AOL portal in multiple European countries including Sweden, Italy or Spain, the parent company continued its expansion with some new improvements added to the Indian side of the firm. AOL announced today that it rolled out new languages for AOL India as well as the availability of Truveo, a video search engine, in eight new countries. Basically, AOL comes with some new content channels in Hindi and Tamil while Truveo evolved in France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, and in the United Kingdom.

"India is a very important market for AOL, and these announcements show our commitment to serving online consumers here with a robust portal and industry leading video search tools," said Ron Grant, President and COO of AOL. "These are also important steps in our ongoing efforts to make AOL a truly global company. We started this year with three international portals in Europe, and we will end 2008 with a presence in 30 countries around the world."

AOL started a powerful expansion campaign a few months ago, and this was supposed to bring the AOL portal in new languages especially in Europe. That's why consumers from France, Italy, Sweden and some other countries can now read news, check email or use instant messaging technologies straight into their native language. But it seems that the company is now interested in developing the video search technology using regional versions of Truveo.

"The recent explosion of online video is a worldwide phenomenon, and all over the world, users and major media companies are putting video content on the Web," said Timothy Tuttle, CEO and Co-Founder of Truveo and Senior Vice President of AOL Video. "Truveo's mission is to index and organize all of it so users can easily find the video they want - wherever they are in the world."
