The new Sanyo NV-HD880FT GPS navigator, that is

Remember that pilot episode from the "Johnny Bravo" show, when the character was desperately searching for a gorilla that had escaped from the Zoo, including under the clothes of an attractive lady? Well, said clothes might be now hiding something entirely different, namely Sanyo's new GPS navigator, the NV-HD880FT, dubbed "Gorilla" by the manufacturer due to the fact that it features a very large, 8-inch touchscreen display, as well as several other important features.

Thus, the Gorilla can best be described as an all-in-one navigation and entertainment system, designed more or less specifically for the Japanese market, at least in its current form. And that's because, beside the built-in GPS antenna and 12-channel receiver, the device also includes an 1Seg receiver, capable of tuning into the broadcasts of this mobile TV service encountered solely in Japan, as well as an FM transmitter for broadcasting audio signals to the car's own audio system.

However, as mentioned earlier, the main point of attraction provided by Sanyo's GPS navigator is its huge display, a large 8-inch (20-cm) TFT LCD touchscreen with 336,960 pixels which can be used for either viewing the navigation maps or various TV programs. And since we're on the subject, it's worth mentioning the fact that Sanyo's navigator also comes packed with a 30 GB HDD, which can be used for storing various recorded content.

Furthermore, the device could be considered rather thin and portable, if we take into account all the stuff that's been crammed up within it, as the NV-HD880FT measures 206.8 mm x 121 mm x 38 mm, at a weight of just around 950 grams.

Sanyo's new Gorilla navigator will arrive in Japan towards the end of November and will retail for around 225,750 yen ($1,952), a price tag that sends it straight to that "very cool, but too expensive" category of products.
