PC and server vendor Hewlett-Packard has just released the HP Pavilion dv2800t Artist Edition notebook series, that aims at adding some extra personalization to users' laptops, as well as the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology.

The HP Pavilion dv2800t got its artistic touch as the result of a Global Design Competition supported by the server manufacturer in collaboration with MTV. The winning design in a six week period got stenciled on the laptop's lid, palm rest, while its JPEG image has been set by default as desktop wallpaper in Windows Vista. However, the notebook is more than artistic impression: it is built on Intel's Centrino platform for blazing performance while working, playing or watching movies.

The Pavilion dv2800t Artist Edition shares the same hardware specifications with the dv2700t notebook. It comes with a 14.1-inch high-definition BrightView widescreen display that reveals four percent more than standard 14-inch LCD displays. At the same time, the 16:10 aspect ratio can easily accommodate two pages side by side. The LCD display is fueled by Nvidia's GeForce 8400M GS discrete video card, that packs 128MB of dedicated video memory.

The notebook comes with up to 4GB of system memory and up to 250GB hard drive. Additionally, the Artist Edition features a DVD burner or a HD DVD ROM (who wants the latter anymore?), the Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Connection with Bluetooth, as well as a built-in web camera. The dv2800t is highly optimized to deliver a great multimedia experience, and it comes with high-quality audio supplied by a set of integrated Altec-Lansing stereo speakers.

The HP Pavilion dv2800t integrates smoothly with the HP xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base, that allows you to connect the laptop to miscellaneous peripherals such as an external monitor, in order to get a desktop-like computing experience. The Expansion Base also grants extra connectivity options, such as two USB 2.0, an ExpressCard/54, an RJ-11, an RJ-45, an IEEE 1394 FireWire, an S-Video, and a consumer IR.

The HP Pavilion dv2800t Artist Edition notebook can be purchased for an initial price of $1,129.99.
