14 DAY TRIAL // Blizzard Entertainment published the patch notes for the February 10 update headed towards Heroes of the Storm, offering all the juicy details regarding an all-new hero, The Three Vikings.
Granted, it's a very odd name for a single hero to hold, but that's mainly because the character consists of three separate entities, Olaf, Baleog, and Erik, the legendary vikings from the time when Blizzard was called Silicon & Synapse.
The Lost Vikings is a puzzle platformer released back in 1991, featuring a bunch of interesting and innovative gameplay mechanics, requiring gamers to make use of each of the three vikings' special abilities in order to solve various difficult situations and eventually get back home.
In Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's popular hero brawler, The Lost Vikings are three heroes in one, with Olaf having lots of health and regeneration and being able to charge to slow enemies, Baleog dealing splash damage to enemies behind his main target, and Erik moving faster than everyone else and having a longer attack range.
Each viking can move, attack and be killed separately, and each one of them has individual respawn timers upon death. Gamers can also control the vikings as a group.
Tools of the trade
Blizzard revealed that The Lost Vikings' hero trait is reduced death time, and that their basic abilities must be unlocked through Talent Selection.
The first ability is Spin to Win!, dealing damage around each of the three vikings, unlockable at level 7. The second ability, Jump, makes all vikings temporarily invulnerable, and the third, Norse Force, bestows a protective shield upon each of the three.
When The Lost Vikings mount up, they gain increased movement speed for a few seconds, and their heroic abilities allow them to revive and summon the other two vikings to the one doing the summoning.
The second heroic ability, titled Longboat Raid, summons an iconic longboat and sends the three on a viking raid.
The update adds a ton of other features, as evidenced by the patch notes, but sadly, Team League is not one of them.
