After the seemingly never-ending problems experienced with the former 3DO owner, the fifth installment for Heroes of Might & Magic brought about the much awaited franchise revitalization. Even so, redemption doesn't come cheap as the release was delayed right after the beta testing stage. The title saw moderate success but fans expected Nival Entertainment developers to put in the extra mile and polish the title even more. Thus it came as no surprise when Ubisoft today announced that Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate expansion pack is to be expected in November.

Dwarves are presented as well as a new playable race to join the battlefield, raising the game's factions to seven. Hammers of Fate will also feature new spells, abilities, buildings, artifacts, single- and multiplayer maps, and a dwarven campaign with 15 new missions. As stated before, this is Nival's chance to tweak the game even more and balance out creature statistics and abilities, along with AI decisions and engine failures. There is one particular addition fans were expecting for a long time, one that always stuck with the franchise in its glorious days, namely a random map generator. Heroes of Might & Magic always had a strong multiplayer appeal, and now players can once more enjoy the vagaries of fate while adventuring in newly born territories.

The complete feature list for Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate, as released by Nival Entertainment:

■ New faction: Introducing the brand-new Dwarves faction, made up of heroic warriors and rune magic adepts who stalk Ashan's deepest mountains and most hostile regions. ■ A brand-new adventure: Featuring 15 new missions, new heroes, and improved cut-scenes, the new campaign will lead players even deeper into the dramatic events that began with Heroes of Might and Magic V. ■ Extended game experience: Includes a wealth of new spells and abilities, 5 new single-player maps, 10 new multiplayer maps, new buildings, new artifacts, and new neutral creatures, Heroes of Might and Magic V: Hammers of Fate gives players the tools to develop new tactics, and further their game experience both online and offline. ■ Improved mechanics and gameplay: Thanks to new features such as Caravans and a random map generator, players will enjoy unlimited replay ability and an even smoother gameplay experience. In addition, the simultaneous turn feature will speed up online games.
