The third installment in the rebooted “X-Men” franchise, “Apocalypse,” from director Bryan Singer, went into principal photography a couple of weeks ago. A photo posted on Singer’s Instagram feed reveals that members of the principal cast have also come back to work.

We’re talking about handsome British actor James McAvoy, who is reprising his role as Professor Charles Xavier, leader of the Mutants and one of the most powerful Mutants as well.

As fans must know from the original X-Men trilogy, in which the role was played by Sir Patrick Stewart, Professor X is instantly recognizable for his bald head and his wheelchair. In the first film in the rebooted franchise, which introduced the younger version of the characters, McAvoy had long hair.

Now on set to start shooting for “Apocalypse,” he’s had his head shaved, as the photo available below confirms. Professor X is back to work, helping Mutants master their supernatural powers and then use them for the greater good.

“Apocalypse” will be the last movie in which Jennifer Lawrence appears as Mystique, and also the last “X-Men” movie in which Hugh Jackman appears as Wolverine. McAvoy and Michael Fassbender’s contracts are also up after this one, so chances are it will be used to introduce a new class of Mutants, who will be taking over when they’re gone.

It will be out in 2016, so it will be another while until we actually see official photos or footage. Until then, Instagram photos will do just fine.
