Julianne Moore is a brilliant actress and she’s bound to get the recognition she deserves this year, once the awards season kicks off. In “Still Alice,” she plays a reputable linguist professor diagnosed with early Alzheimer, and this is the role that is generating massive Oscar buzz for her.

In fact, if reports online are anything to go by (and they probably are, because they’re not just idle gossip but pieces from film critics who have seen early screenings of the film), “Still Alice” will win Julianne an Oscar for Best Actress.

It could also turn out to be the film for which Kristen Stewart, formerly of the “Twilight” fame, will earn her first Best Supporting Actress nomination, and hopefully win.

Yahoo! has the first trailer for the film, which has opened in limited release earlier this month in the US, but will go wide on January 16. You will find it embedded below in full and in HD.

“Still Alice” also stars Alec Baldwin as the husband, and Kate Bosworth and Hunter Parrish as the children, but it’s Moore and Stewart’s performances that are getting the most critical praise.

From the pull quotes included in the trailer, you can see that Moore’s Oscar campaign is in full swing right now, but even without them, this looks like a very promising and touching family drama. And it’s refreshing to see Kristen step out of her comfort zone, a move that her millions of fans will undoubtedly appreciate.
