The ultra-high definition TV market will exceed 50,000 shipments

One would say that 57,000 is a low number of product shipments during an entire year, but when the products being examined are both high-end and rare, the figure becomes quite a bit more impressive.

Ultra-high definition TVs are well known, but not often sold, due to their prices and the lack of content in 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution.

Thus, the forecast of 57,000 shipped units for 2013 isn't all that low.

According to research firm CEA (Consumer Electronics Association), those shipments will lead to a revenue of $214 million.

That sum corresponds to €234 million, give or take a few hundred thousand.

The 1 million mark will only be surpassed in 2015, assuming TV broadcasts in high enough quality debut by then. Given the different between 1 million and just scant over 50,000, though, maybe we should be in awe of the projected growth rate instead.
