Mass Effect 3, the video game that will close down the space-based BioWare developed saga, might have been pushed back into early 2012 but the developers working on the game are pretty eager to share more information about the title with the player base.

Speaking to PC Gamer Casey Hudson, who is one the main developers working on Mass Effect 3, has stated, “I think a way to think about it is if you made decisions early on, you’ll see them affecting this. And the decisions you might want to make that go against those prior things are gonna be harder.”

“Killing the Rachni might present opportunities in Mass Effect 3 that you wouldn’t otherwise have, but if you don’t take those opportunities and you try and do something in opposition to that, then it would be harder for you than if you work with it,” he went on saying.

It seems that the concepts that were first seen in Mass Effect 2, where the player had the choice of ignoring most side quests as long as he was ready to face a less than optimal ending to the game, will be also seen in the third game.

Hudson added, “If you just rip straight down the critical path and try and finish the game as soon as you can, and do very little optional or side stuff, then you can finish the game. You can have some kind of ending and victory, but it’ll be a lot more brutal and minimal relative to if you do a lot of stuff.”

It sounds like the developers at BioWare are trying to make sure that those who have been with Mass Effect since the first game will have a chance to close all loose threads and see an ending which neatly wraps up the entire saga, while also delivering an exciting and fun experience for those who only pick up Mass Effect 3.
