Both the Earth and the Moon are visible in the image shot by the probe

A couple of days ago, NASA urged earthlings to wave and smile as Cassini, currently orbiting Saturn, was taking a few shots that would also include the Earth and the Moon.

The raw images from the Cassini spacecraft have already made their way back to Earth.

The image that includes the Earth and the Moon, seen as two bright spots, is available on NASA's Cassini website as it was shot. It hasn't been processed in any way and there's no explanation or context for it.

Still, if you were among those who did wave as the probe was taking the photos, you can rest assured that your gesture was captured for eternity.

It's not actually visible in any way, as the planet only shows up as a point of light – understandable for an image shot from 1,445,858,030 km (898,414,528 miles) away. But, from a certain, non-scientific point of view, we're all present in this photo.
