Earbuds are small by definition, tiny speakers encased in a squishy membrane that can keep the things stable inside your ears, delivering sound about as close to the eardrum as such a thing can get.

Being able to honestly claim that your set of earbuds is the smallest there is will definitely earn some stares. After all, being the “best” at something always works to reel customers in.

So behold the Earin, created by a team of engineers led by mechanical and design expert Olle Linden. The audio devices have a weight of 5 grams / 0.17 ounces (they're encased in plastic and have silicon tips, you see).

Also, they have a diameter of 14 mm / 0.55 inches and are 20 mm / 0.78 inches long.

Furthermore, they come with a 50 mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery that can hold a charge good enough to last three hours. The “Concha Lock” storage capsule has another battery. A 100 mAh battery that recharges the buds when you put them in. The capsule weighs an extra 25 g / 0.9 ounces.

You can't recharge the earbuds directly, they're too small for that, too small for a USB port, but the capsule does have Universal Serial Bus.

Provided that the Kickstarter campaign raises enough cash, the Earin could reach you for as little as £99 / $168 / €123.
