Rock out with these tracks

The music game genre is certainly on a very high ascending trend in both sales and popularity, as more and more gamers fancy the idea of rocking out with their family or friends and envision themselves in one of the most famous bands ever to grace the big concert halls from across the world, all in their own living room.

The most popular games in this genre are Guitar Hero and Rock Band, each of them having a pretty big and loyal fan base. Part of the reason the fans love these titles is the fact that, on a somewhat weekly basis, the developers of the two games, Activision on one part and Harmonix on the other, both offer new tracks that can be purchased and played in the original songs. This DLC (Downloadable Content) is a big part of the success of the two games, as it keeps things fresh all the time.

February will be a pretty interesting month for owners of Guitar Hero: World Tour, which is the latest iteration in the series, as the team at Activision announced the lineup of tracks that would be available on both the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network for PS3 owners. Artists like Wings or Bob Seger will have their songs in the game, giving players the chance to rock out on some very popular tracks.

Here's the complete lineup and dates that the tracks will be launched on, as found on Destructoid:

February 12 ("Acoustic Track Pack") Incubus - "Drive" The Shins - "New Slang" Ryan Adams - "Wonderwall" (cover)

February 19 ("Wings Track Pack") Wings - "Junior's Farm" Wings - "Hi Hi Hi" Wings - "Jet"

February 26 ("Bog Seger Track Pack") Bog Seger - "Old Time rock and Roll" Bob Seger - "Her Strut" Bog Seger - "Get Out of Denver (live)"

Priced at 5.49 dollars, or 440 MS Points per pack, it definitely seems that this short month will keep players entertained and make the wait until Guitar Hero: Metallica will appear, in March, a lot easier. Let's hope that Harmonix has a February DLC lineup as solid as this.
