A fix for the problem

The PlayStation 3 has always been hyped up by Sony for having some big hard drives come with the different versions of the console. This made a lot of developers create a mandatory install in order to speed up the loading times from the Blu-ray disc that was inserted into the console.

Prototype is one of the latest titles to feature such an install, but even though for the majority of PS3 users it has gone off without a hitch, some of them have found that, despite the fact that they had the minimum disc space free, the game wouldn't install no matter what.

Activision has taken notice of it, and has just posted a statement in which it advises PS3 owners to add or delete 700 MB of data to or from their hard drives and try to install the title again. A patch in order to fix this problem will be released in the following days, but considering how easy the problem can be solved, you might want to try it and not wait for the update.

“If your PS3 tells you that you have insufficient hard drive space to install, even if you do, you are going to need to change the available space on your hard drive by 700 MB. This can be done in a number of ways including the following:

- Installing or uninstalling another PS3 game that allows hard drive installation. - Downloading game demos. - Removing downloadable content. - Adding / removing MP3's or movies from the hard drive. - Etc.”

It's nice to see that Activision has responded so quickly to its fans and brought to them an easy workaround until the update will be released. Hopefully now people can enjoy the fast-paced action of Prototype on their PlayStation 3 consoles.
