Helio has launched Helio Player, a PC software that allows users to manage their personal collection of music, videos and pictures on their computer and transfer it to and from their mobile phone. Available for free to Helio members, the application also integrates the popular Helio Music Store, enabling users to purchase songs on their PC and then transfer them to a Helio device via USB, or purchase songs over-the-air and receive them both on their device and on their PC for the same price.

Developed and hosted in partnership with RealNetworks, Helio Player features a sleek user interface that includes three tabs for organizing Music, Video and Pictures. The Music tab allows users to download, import from subscription music services, listen, manage, create playlists and transfer tracks to and from a Helio device while the Pictures and Video tabs enable users to organize and transfer pictures and videos and also to create photo albums.

Helio Player supports MP3, M3A and WMA audio, as well as WMV, MPEG, AVI, MPEG-4 and H.264 video. When a Helio device is connected to a PC via USB, Helio Player automatically converts music and videos being transferred to a compatible format for mobile playback.

Helio Player integrates the popular Helio Music Store, which allows users to browse and purchase full-length songs and albums from a selection of hundreds of thousands of tracks in a wide variety of genres from major music labels. Users can view various music information such as artist biographies and images, top songs and available albums, and can also have a preview of the tracks before purchasing. The Helio Music Store simplifies music discovery by suggesting similar artists, and offering access to top music, song recommendations, new releases and reviews.

Helio Player allows members to download a copy of any song that they purchase over-the-air from their Helio device to their PC for no extra charge. This includes previously purchased tracks, which will be available for download to a PC with the launch of Helio Player. Members can then play songs on their PC and transfer them to other compatible portable music players.

Helio Player is available for free to Helio members and is compatible with PCs running Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems and Helio devices Ocean, Fin, Drift and Heat. The application can be downloaded here.
