Helio Ocean has just received an important upgrade due to the efforts of some members of Heliocity. The device has just received its first 3rd party app and a pretty important one, as the device will support Opera Mini from now on.

The smartphone was revealed a few months ago and received with enthusiasm by all those who lacked the patience of waiting for the iPhone to be launched. Helio Ocean brought at the time highly evolved capabilities that some people thrilled over. The dual sliding form factor is one feature which surely added some points to its popularity. The concept is highly useful and quite innovative, without taking much from the handset's elegance and slimness.

Moreover, the smartphone also came with a 2 megapixel camera, as similar devices usually pack for responding to basic capturing needs. Helio Ocean used to pride with its high speed network and fast internet data transfer speeds. The fact that it did not offer its users the possibility of using an evolved mobile browser is quite disappointing.

Opera Mobile is the most evolved and frequently used internet browser for mobile phones, which makes the announcement of being introduced on Helio Ocean even better. Unfortunately, there are also some problems with this solution, although developers are currently working on finding ways to resolve them.

The available Opera Mini version is only 3 and not the latest released v.4. Moreover, there are some bugs, such as the fact that the landscape mode does not work, which is also the case with the QWERTY keypad.

Heliocity is also working at this time on an application which will allow people to convert MIDP 1.0/2.0 apps as to be compatible with Helio Ocean. That's even better news, as this means that the number of third party apps working on this smartphone will considerably increase. The application should be ready within a few days, so get ready to download it from their website.
