Helen Hunt is following up her 2007 directorial debut with “Ride,” which goes into production next week, on August 5, but is yet to get an estimated release date, Deadline informs.

It also says that Hunt wrote the script for the movie and is involved in it in pretty much every capacity: she will direct, produce and star in it.

Hunt plays the mother of a young man who moves from New York to Los Angeles for school but, once there, leaves school behind to sow his wild oats.

His mother follows him to LA to keep a better eye on him, but she too is about to embark on an adventure that will change her life for good.

“Ride” also stars Luke Wilson, David Zayas, Mike White, Richard Kind, Leonor Varela, Elizabeth Jayne and Brenton Thwaites.

“Hunt is producing with Lizzie Friedman, Gregg Little’s Sandbar Productions, and Moon Blauner. Matthew Carnahan is exec producer. The production will move to New York in October. CAA and Kevin Iwashina will broker domestic distribution for Ride,” Deadline writes.

Hunt’s most recent role, in “The Sessions,” earned her an Oscar nomination.
