“Grey’s Anatomy,” one of the highest appreciated daytime dramas of the last years, is on the verge of going through a cast overhaul, it has been revealed. While no specific date for when that might happen has yet been set, word in the industry has it that real-life friends Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are working their way out of their contracts, and out of the show, Us Magazine informs.

While this may not surprise fans of the show that much, the departure of the two will still give some headaches to the crew, as “graceful” ways for them to leave have to be found, the mag claims. Apparently, Us Magazine spoke with people on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy,” as well as with co-stars of the two, and has gotten confirmation that neither is any longer happy with the show, and is consequently looking to move on to other projects.

When the mag asked one of Katherine’s co-stars if she was truly about to leave the series, the answer was as blunt as could be. “Yes, she is. Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best.” the unnamed source explained. As for who else was going with Heigl, the same source confirmed for the publication that T.R. Knight was also extremely vocal about wanting out of his contract.

“He’s going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths.” the source told about Knight’s next move. However, unlike Katherine, Knight is not that much loved on the set, if one were to believe what the spies are saying, so his departure couldn’t have come at a better moment, with every member of the cast a bit sick and tired of the actor’s outbursts. “He complains to Katherine all the time. The energy on set will be much better when he’s gone.” Us Magazine writes, citing the same unnamed source.

Be that as it may, it looks like Knight’s departure would not translate in death in front of the camera, the same publication claims. “Knight has had numerous talks with executive producer Shonda Rhimes, and that the ‘writers are scrambling to find a believable exit for George, one that would leave the door open for him to come back someday.’” Us Magazine also points out.
