Not long ago, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who rose to fame on MTV’s “The Hills,” were pretty much everywhere in the US: the tabloids, the media, online, on TV. They recently wrapped a stint on Celebrity Big Brother UK but it was probably an experience they’re not looking to relive.

Though they swore some time ago that they were done with reality television because it had ruined their lives, Heidi and Spencer agreed to relocate temporarily to the UK to be on the show, which is still very popular here.

They moved into the Big Brother house with other celebrities and emerged on Friday on the season finale, as the runner-ups.

However, the experience was more than they bargained for, they say in an interview cited by Wenn.

Apparently, while inside the BB house, Spencer and Heidi actually feared for their lives because of the kind of negativity they felt coming towards them from the other housemates.

“We didn't sleep much at all. I always had one eye open. We were watching them thinking they were going to try and kill us in our sleep. We were constantly nervous something might happen,” Spencer says.

“Every time we saw any of them near knives we left the kitchen straight away. Some of them would itch their own face with a butcher's knife – it was mentally insane. If they'll hold knives by their own faces I didn't know what they were capable of,” he explains.

His wife, the surgically enhanced Heidi, agrees: living inside the BB house was the closest thing she’s ever experienced to Hell.

“They were at such an intense level in the house, we thought they would come and mess with us. Who knows what they would do? At times they were very volatile, easily triggered, and they had violent tendencies. I thought we would have to run to get away from it. I didn't want to get into a fight at all costs,” she says.

Producers of the show must be thrilled by what they’re reading right now.
