Heidi Montag is just 23 and, according to many, had very little need, if at all, for the makeover she got with massive cosmetic surgery a couple of months ago. Dealing with very poor self-esteem, the reality television star says the pain she still suffers is a price she more than gladly pays for her new look – and a high price it is, as she reveals for People magazine.

According to Montag herself, she’s still in a lot of pain, in a “fragile” state, as she puts it, even though many weeks have passed since she undertook the procedures that aim to make of her a living, life-size Barbie doll and a “better me.” The recent visit she paid to her mother, when she confronted her for the first time since going under the knife, only set her recovery back because of the shock she had from her mother’s reaction, Montag laments.

“It’s been 11 weeks since her life-changing plastic surgery but Heidi Montag is still very much healing. ‘I’m very fragile,’ she tells PEOPLE. ‘I’m not in a great place right now.’ The long road to recovery hasn’t been an easy one but Montag, 23, with weekly massages, exercise and therapy, has been working hard at the process,” People magazine writes after speaking with “The Hills” star.

“Still, setbacks like a stressful trip back home to Crested Butte, Colo., to confront her mom, have pushed back her healing some. ‘I was hysterical the whole time,’ she says of the trip. ‘It was so hurtful. My body really set back from recovering from all the crying, stress and that traumatic experience.’ Says Montag: ‘My insides were just throbbing and pounding but I know it’s part of what I had to go through’,” the publication goes on to say.

Even though the visit set Montag’s recovery back due to stress, some good also came of it, as she revealed herself in an older interview. After the initial shock, her mother was completely won over by the new Heidi she had in front of her eyes – so much so that she too decided she wanted a makeover, Montag said a few days ago.
