The development team at Paradox Interactive has launched a new video for its upcoming Hearts of Iron IV, designed to offer fans of the series a glimpse of the gameplay that will be included in the new title and a bit of detail about some of the core mechanics.

The focus of the footage is the new strategic planning system that will allow both newcomers and long-term players to prepare for the inevitable breakout of war and make sure that their divisions are in the best possible position to take the enemy on.

At the same time, gamers can now enlist in a new recruitment campaign associated with Hearts of Iron IV, by visiting an official site in order to join one of the three major factions in the grand strategy experience: the Allies, the Axis, and the Comintern.

The company states, “The more members each faction recruits, the more rewards will ultimately be unlocked for all fans, and fans who recruit 20 or more soldiers will have the chance gain access to the Hearts of Iron IV beta.”

At the moment, the video game is set to be launched in the first few months of 2015 and will be offered only on the PC.

Hearts of Iron IV is an ambitious new project that will take some of the core mechanics of the franchise and transform them in interesting ways.

The most recent developer diary from Paradox reveals that a new experience system will be used to allow gamers to tweak the design of their vehicles, planes, and vessels based on the results of the battles they have taken part in.

The production system for the grand strategy experience has also been tweaked in order to make it more realistic and to allow players to adjust their building runs based on the requirements of their armies in the field.

Hearts of Iron IV will also have a revamped set of features for air power and there are plans to enhance the diplomatic aspect of the game and to make trade between nations more relevant.

Paradox Interactive believes that the title will be flexible enough to allow those who want to recreate the historical result of World War II to do so while offering a chance for more adventurous players to take the reins of any nation in the world and to guide it towards glory or total defeat.
