14 DAY TRIAL // Hearthstone is a global success, but the development team at Blizzard continues to deliver in-depth presentations of its core heroes, with the company ready to provide fans with a wide variety of lore about Malfurion Stormrage.
The official site states that “Ten thousand years into Azeroth’s past, Malfurion Stormrage was the student and brightest scholar of the demigod Cenarius, Lord of the Forest. As the years passed under Cenarius’ wise instruction, Malfurion became the first Druid, able to use the powers of nature to the Kaldorei’s benefit. Druidism became an integral part of Malfurion’s people directly through his guidance.”
Blizzard then spins a complex tale of love, betrayal, powerful magic, massive battles, and arcane energies that involve other characters from the world of Warcraft that fans of Hearthstone will certainly appreciate.
The development team says that Malfurion’s skills and card choice in Hearthstone are based on his ages of experience as a druid.
The studio adds, “You can use the Legendary power of the Lord of the Forest himself in Hearthstone in your favorite Druid deck. Cenarius gifts the Druid’s loyal allies with the incredible powers of the land that bolster their Attack and Health, or summons Treants to protect your allies from harm.”
Heartstone is a card-based title that allows players to choose a class, assemble their own decks, and then take on both friends and rivals online.
The game is offered under a free-to-play system and players can easily access all the content without paying any real world money.
Even if it has only been out for a short time, Hearthstone has already attracted a huge number of players who tend to log in every day for a few quick matches or longer sessions.
Professional gamers are also involved and eSports tournaments built around it are coming soon.
Blizzard has pledged that it will support the experience in the long term with constant updates and balance tweaks in order to make sure that all the classes are competitive and interesting to play.
Hearthstone does not represent a traditional experience for Blizzard, but it shows how the company can use its extensive roster of characters in order to create new titles with some interesting mechanics and plenty of polish.
At the moment, the studio is working on its own Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title, called Heroes of the Storm, which should be out before the end of the year.
