14 DAY TRIAL // Since Hearthstone was launched, many Magic the Gathering players have changed sides and are now exclusively playing Blizzard's card game.
Of course, many would say that Wizards of the Coast's game is much more complex and far superior to Hearthstone, but the latter benefits from a more-than-decent online client and is more appealing for the masses thanks to its easy-to-learn gameplay rules.
However, just like any other card game, Hearthstone only had a limited set of cards at the beginning, which was later on expanded through the addition of a single-player campaign.
The Curse of Naxxramas brought 30 new cards into the mix (21 neutral cards and 9 class-specific cards), along with some World of Warcraft flavor. The story behind the single-player campaign is simple and it's based on Naxxramas dungeon, which was regularly raided back in the older days of the MMO.
More recently, Hearthstone got more than 120 cards with the new Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion. The new set of cards has completely changed the metagaming and Hearthstone players must now find new ways to improve their decks using new synergies and combos between the new cards.
But what about those who love playing single-player story-based campaigns? Blizzard has yet to announce anything on that matter, but the community seems to have stepped up and one particular guy has already started to create a Warcraft 3 campaign.
This is s story mode campaign, as such it will contain specific cards based on Warcraft 3 characters and powers. For now, it's only something created by someone outside Blizzard, but the new decks built especially for the campaign are incredibly interesting.
The custom campaign contains both main and optional quests
With a little bit of balancing, this Warcraft 3 campaign could be easily added as a new expansion for those looking to try their hand at Hearthstone single-player, if Blizzard wants it.
The campaign created by Hearthpwn forum member WilliamWalrus has a specific set of decks containing creatures and spells with unique abilities that can be used for nice combos or synergies.
For example, Long-Range prevents characters with this power to take combat damage while attacking. Creatures with Smash that attack another minion also damage the enemy hero with any remaining power after killing that minion.
Up until now, there are 9 possible missions published with complete decks for the player and AI, as well as the rewards given after each one is successfully completed.
