14 DAY TRIAL // The development team at Blizzard is announcing that it is planning to launch a balance-focused update for its very popular Hearthstone, which is designed to deal with the problems that were created by the overuse of the Undertaker card.
The company says that it has been carefully monitoring the title since it introduced the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion and that it has plenty of data and feedback from players in order to back the changes that it plans to make.
The official forum announcement from Blizzard states, "Undertaker was frustrating to play against. It often gained both Attack and Health stats significantly above those of other inexpensive minions very early in the game. With this change, we expect Undertaker will still be better than other 1-Mana minions when played in a deck with a Deathrattle theme, but more likely to die in combat against other minions."
The studio also says that the golden version of the Undertaker card in Hearthstone can be disenchanted for its full cost for a limited period after the balance patch for the game goes live, although a date for it has not yet been offered.
Blizzard also says that it will continue to monitor the game in order to see what balance modifications can be implemented to make it more competitive for all those involved.
Hearthstone can only increase its popularity in the long term
The new card-based title from Blizzard is designed to offer a clear and simple set of mechanics and it allows players to become as involved as they want with deckbuilding and matches.
The entire experience is free-to-play, which contributes to the high number of players who are engaged with it, but the company derives a serious revenue stream from real-money purchases the community can make.
Although no official plans have been announced, it's highly likely that a new big expansion for the game will be introduced later in the year and in the meantime Blizzard will continue to tweak the balance of Hearthstone via small patches.
