The Hasselblad H5D-50c camera was first introduced in mid-January and subsequently was spotted in its full glory at the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show in Japan, not so long ago.

Now, photo enthusiasts who couldn't wait to get their hands on it should know the camera has been made available worldwide, so regardless of where you reside, you now have the opportunity to grab it.

Hasselblad claims the camera was designed with the purest intention in mind, meaning to create a camera capable of producing the best image quality possible today.

The new Hasselblad camera obviously brings a range of improvements / upgrades and the first one that should be mentioned is the new CMOS sensor model, which reportedly represents a big leap in camera development, allowing medium format photographers to shoot in any lighting condition.

To better understand the difference, note the 50 Mpixel CMOS sensor is actually twice the size of the largest 35 mm DSLR sensor. The new H5D-50c offers longer shutter speeds (up to 12 minutes) and faster capture rates (set at 1.5 frames per second).

Adopters of the H5D-50c will be able to shoot at up to ISO 6400 and still be able to get balanced pictures in terms of color, in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Other highlights include Live Video in Phocus with higher frame rate, the True Focus auto-focus system complete with Absolute Position Lock and camera controls and the possibility of working with tilt-shift.

The new H5D-50c won’t come cheap, and customers can grab one for €20,900 / $28,804. If you want to get a chance to test the device before purchasing it, the WPPI Expo in Las Vegas (March 3-5) might be a great opportunity to do so.
