Taylor Swift has a new album to promote so, inevitably, the question of her love life, once so troubled, now not so much, comes up. She swears she’s been single since Harry Styles, which means she hasn’t dated anyone in about a couple of years, because she wants to focus on her career and her own person for a change.

According to a new report, her decision had nothing to do with that, but all to do with the fact that she’s had her heart broken one too many times and has willingly made a decision to steer clear of men for a very long time.

If you like the single version of Taylor, you’re about to enjoy her for a very long time, at least according to this.

She’s lost “faith in men” completely

Insiders close to the star tell OK! Magazine that Taylor’s decision to enjoy the single life for a while doesn’t come out of a sense of empowerment, having been determined solely by heartbreak. After falling hard for John Meyer and then Harry Styles, and having been dumped so unceremoniously by both, Taylor doesn’t want the drama anymore.

“After what John Mayer did and then Harry, she lost her faith in men and doesn’t want to date anyone seriously ‘for a very long time’,” the insider explains.

“Her experience with men has hardened her up and she’s not going to give her heart away so easily ever again,” the same source explains.

However, Taylor isn’t leading a life of abstinence, the insider is eager to continue: she doesn’t want anything serious right now, but she’s seeing men. “She’s been having only very casual hookups, but never anything serious, just fun,” dishes the spy.

Taylor’s love life will never be not interesting for the media and fans

Taylor’s brand new album, “1989,” is coming out in stores later this month and, so far, she’s been trying her best to divert attention from her love life to her music by steering all conversations towards that topic.

However, at the same time, she’s also subtly encouraging speculation on her love life, with the ever-so-carefully-placed hint in one magazine interview or another, because she knows the media will jump to take the bait.

Secondly, her impressive list of exes makes it so that everyone wants to know who she’ll be dating next – and for how long.

The bottom line is that Taylor’s love life will never be not interesting because celebrity culture thrives on scandal and juicy rumors. Taylor knows that, and occasionally she plays the game very well.

Just this week, for instance, she released a new song on iTunes called “Out of the Woods,” of which she said was about an ex-boyfriend with whom things simply didn’t work out. Many have already decided that it was inspired by Harry Styles, and his association with it, unconfirmed as it was, drove sales for the new song.

In the end, everybody wins. Well, except for Harry Styles.
