The company still has two other titles in development

Video game developer Harmonix seems to have canceled one of the video games it was working on for the Xbox One home console and some details suggest that the unnamed title was a new version of Dance Central.

Kotaku quotes Superannuation as saying that a CV from a developer offers news of the cancelation, but the company has not offered any sort of information on why the decision has been made.

Harmonix said in early 2013 that it was working on three new game experiences, with the only one made being Fantasia: Music Evolved.

All the titles are expected to make full use of the new Kinect technology that Microsoft has included in the Xbox One.

The canceled project might be a new version of Dance Central, but it’s very likely that Harmonix fans will never have exact info because the studio rarely offers details on the games that are not actually launched.

At the moment, the company seems to be focusing its efforts on a game called Chroma, for which a number of domain registrations have recently been made, but no official details are yet available.

Late in 2013, Harmonix announced that it was laying off a small number of staff, but said that no future games were affected in any way.

Harmonix is best known for the way it developed and launched Rock Band, which became one of the biggest music-based titles in the world of gaming.

After the genre all but disappeared, the studio turned to the innovative use of the Kinect motion tracking tech from Microsoft.

The cancelation of a Harmonix project for the Xbox One is bad news for fans of the console and might signal a long-term problem for the device.

Sales of titles for next-gen consoles have already been lagging behind those of hardware, which is a worrying trend.
