Hannah Anderson, the teenager kidnapped from California, has made a surprise appearance in public at a fundraiser organized for her family. It has been set up by members in the small Lakeside community.

So far, Anderson has communicated through her father, but she has also answered questions via an online chat.

As I wrote, she was abducted by the man that killed her mother and younger brother. She was found because a horseback rider running into her and James DiMaggio in the Idaho wilderness alerted police.

The girl's father, Brett Anderson, has given a statement to the media saying that Hannah is feeling better but wants her privacy.

"Right now, she's with her family and, of course, with some friends, and she's just happy to be here," he tells NBC San Diego.
