Earlier during the day you had the chance of reading our impressions on two of Asus' future LGA 1155 motherboards, the P8P67 Pro and P8P67 Deluxe, and, during those articles we mentioned these new offerings come with a much more simple to use and cooler looking EFI BIOS, that we had the chance of going hands on.

First thing to note is how much of an improvement this feels like when compared to the regular BIOS used by most other manufacturers out there, it's new interface, that allows users to control all the available options with a mouse, coming as a great addition for all those users that would run scared with confronted with a regular motherboard BIOS.

Coming with two different operation modes, appropriately named EZ Mode and Advanced Mode, Asus' new EFI BIOS caters to all sort of computer users, from noobs to hard-core enthusiasts, all the settings that we have come to expect from an Asus BIOS being present here.

Of course that going for the EZ Mode will only get you a limited amount of options such as changing boot device order (by simply dragging and dropping the appropriate icon in place), activating power saving and overclocking modes or monitoring the systems fans and temperatures.

Going for Advanced however, will unlock all those features that we have come to expect from a Asus motherboard, all of the usual overclocking options being found here as well as memory timings, fan control and the like.

During the short time spent with this new EFI BIOS, I am happy to report that everything worked out pretty smoothly, especially when using a mouse as controlling all these settings with a keyboard proved to be somewhat awkward.

Anyway, considering this is meant to simplify BIOS operation I can't say this comes as a minus. Asus' EFI implementation being particularly user-friendly as well as pretty intuitive.

Both the upcoming P8P67 Pro and P8P67 Deluxe will come with this BIOS, as well as other Asus motherboards, and I am sure that other manufacturers will soon follow as this is one of the most important new technologies that I have come to witness in a motherboard during the last few years.

End of it all, I would like to congratulate Asus for bringing EFI to the market and I will leave you with a bunch of pictures showcasing its functionality.
