Many companies have convened in Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress expo, and Samsung was especially eager to show off its new tablet device, a certain Galaxy Tab 10.1 that we were able to get a better feel of.

Not long ago, Samsung and Vodafone both announced the joint launch of the Galaxy tab 10.1 tablet.

It seems to be a more advanced sort of ARM-powered device, based on the Tegra 2 SoC form NVIDIA, which has two 1 GHz cores.

The platform is already known to be able to handle most sorts of multimedia files, even Flash and HD/Full HD videos, hence the display panel's native resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels.

In this case, Tegra 2 is coupled with 16 GB or 32 GB of Flash storage, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, USB, dual surround sound speakers, an accelerometer and a digital compass.

Furthermore, Samsung threw in two webcams, a 2 megapixel one on the front and an 8 megapixel one on the back, for recording in up to 1,080p.

All the above, along with a 6860 mAh battery, are crammed inside a package measuring just 10.9mm in thickness and weighing 599 grams.

"As a leader in the Android-powered tablet market, Samsung is committed to providing a variety of feature-rich, always-on devices" said DJ Lee, executive vice president and head of Sales & Marketing. He continued, "The Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 is a valuable addition to our expanding portfolio of smart media devices. Sporting a large 10.1 screen and dual surround-sound speakers, it enables users to enjoy multimedia to the maximum extent without having to compromise mobility.”

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 is loaded with the Android 3.0 operating system, also known as Honeycomb, and will start selling this spring.

We managed to get a closer look at the product while at the expo, so those interested in getting a slightly better idea of what to expect need only look through the pictures below.
