Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo was rumored several weeks ago as the lite version of the Galaxy Note 3 phablet and the device was made official in late January.

Even though it packs lots of the features included in the most powerful Samsung smartphone available on the market, the Galaxy Note 3, the Neo seems to be aimed at emerging markets.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo has just been launched in India for $630 (€455) off contract, but other countries may get it as well in the next few weeks.

Given the fact the phablet was announced in late January, the first trade fair that Samsung could use to showcase the product was Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 which kicked off on Monday.

While attending MWC 2014 we've paid a visit to Samsung's booth in order to check out the latest devices announced by the South Korean company, which by the way had the largest stand at the exhibition.

At first glance, we had the impression that we're holding the Galaxy Note 3 version in hands and not the lighter Galaxy Note 3 Neo. The phablets are strikingly similar when it comes to design, but differ when it comes to hardware.

The front part of the Galaxy Note 3 Neo features the same rectangular layout introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy S II. However, the back side is covered in faux leather, just like the Galaxy Note 3.

It appears that Samsung kept the same exquisite design and premium materials of the Galaxy Note 3 and put them in the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, which might be one of the reasons the latter is so expensive.

The S Pen is present as well, so Galaxy Note 3 Neo users will be able to handle the phablet with this small accessory if they feel like.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo is the first smartphone launched by Samsung to pack a hexa-core chipset that accommodates a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, along with a dual-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz.

This is still low in comparison with the Galaxy Note 3 which is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, but we haven't noticed any lags while running multiple apps or browsing the Internet.

The 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display supports HD (720p) resolution and 267ppi (pixel density). It provides pretty vivid colors and very good contrast, so we believe the device packs a more than decent display.

Overall we've been impressed by Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo's performance and looks, but we hardly think anyone would prefer it over the original Galaxy Note 3 model if they can afford both smartphones.
