Panasonic is targeting the camcorder at demanding users or “prosumers”

Ahead of one of the biggest digital imaging events of the year, Photokina 2014, Panasonic chose to unveil something quite exciting at IFA 2014.

I’m talking about its newest camcorder, the HC-X1000, which arrives with 4K recording capabilities. I detailed the product for you a few days ago, but now it’s time to tell you about our own experience with the device.

The camcorder is not too big and is not too heavy either, considering all the goodies it packs on the inside. We didn't take it off the supporting system, but we did notice it has highly smooth zooming function.

It did not respond immediately because it takes advantage of digital correction, to avoid brusque zooming in/out.

The camcorder was set up for testing in front of a candy shop where two ladies were having a tea-party, which made for an environment rich in shadows and colors, ideal for a quick assessment.

You can see in the images below that the HX-X1000 takes advantage of a Leica 20x optical zoom lens. On top of that, it also utilizes a triad of neutral density (ND) filters.

Also visible in the photographs is the wide 3.5-inch articulated LCD touchscreen with a resolution 1,152K-dots, which makes operating the device quite a breeze.
