Two companies are trying to make a name for themselves in the video games industry with the launch of Blaze: Fire Puzzle, the brainchild of the duo’s recently signed partnership to launch a series of new games for iOS devices.

Handmark, a developer and distributor of mobile applications, has teamed up with Paper Planet Productions, a creative gaming company, to expand the offerings of the App Store’s “games” category.

Marking the beginning of this partnership is Blaze: Fire Puzzle, the first title a series, the two companies said.

“Ignite your senses and immerse yourself in a relaxing, ambient gaming experience with BLAZE,” reads the description posted by Handmark for the game’s App Store listing.

“As one of the most challenging and addictive games yet, BLAZE will fulfill your burning gaming desire!”, Handmark believes.

Blaze: Fire Puzzle costs $1.99 on iPhone and iPod touch, and $4.99 on the iPad.

The game features 45 unique levels of play.

Users rotate their device to make a flame light other candles to reveal a relic. However, they must do so before the candles burn out.

Key features of the game include:

- Intuitive tactile controls and full 3D rotation rates, as well as the unique iPhone 4 gyroscope option

- Score sharing via social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and OpenFeint

- High-resolution images utilizing the iPhone 4 Retina Display, presenting a vibrant, realistic experience

- Multitasking capabilities enabling users to listen to customized music during gameplay

“Apple users have established a set of very high standards when it comes to consuming entertainment content on their mobile devices,” said Paul Reddick, CEO of Handmark.

“We are eager to continue raising the bar by delivering a new level of innovation and creativity with one-of-a-kind titles like Blaze,” Reddick added.

Blaze: Fire Puzzle works with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and requires iOS 3.1.3 or later.
