The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that they will introduce a new map called Warlord in the Anniversary version of Halo 2, which is part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, re-imagining the classic Warlock experience, which was also part of Combat Evolve as Wizard and Reach as Magus.

The official announcement on the Xbox Wire service states, "Set amid the ruins of an ancient Forerunner dungeon on Delta Halo, Warlock was renowned for hosting close-quarters firefights across its stony ramps and platforms, as well as teleporters that allowed players to instantly warp back and forth across the map to escape gunfights or launch deadly ambushes."

The developers are saying that Warlord is designed to be instantly familiar to all fans of the Halo franchise but will also introduce additional cover, new skill jumps and a new weapon for characters to use in order to enhance the core gameplay experience.

Max Hoberman, the president of Certain Affinity who worked on the multiplayer of Halo 2, states, "Warlock was my pet project due to fond memories of internal Bungie playtests where we had intense, epic shotgun CTF matches. There’s really nothing else quite like this map in the Halo sandbox – a small arena 4-way symmetric base map – and we felt that it would be a great complement to the other re-imagined maps."

Halo will dominate Xbox One this year and in 2015

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is designed to bring together all the core titles in the franchise in order to give fans a chance to experience them all on the Xbox One, with improved gameplay and graphics.

The title will be launched on November 11 of this year and will also include the Nightfall live action series, which is created by Ridley Scott.

The beta version of Halo 5: Guardians will also be accessed by all those who pick up Halo: The Master Chief Collection at some point in the winter of this year.

343 Industries says that all the titles included will be upgraded and that special attention has been lavished on the first two installments, which offer an entirely new experience.

Halo 5: Guardians will be offered on the Xbox One in late 2015 and will focus on an entirely new story, with the actor playing Agent Locke suggesting that Master Chief might not be the focus of the narrative at the start of the title.
