Developers Bungie have unveiled a host of statistics linked to their first person shooter Halo: Reach adding that they are planning to release an update for the game which will increase the level cap for player and will allow them to access new armor with which they can outfit their Spartan II.

An official posting on the site of the game reads, “When you do cross the 117 Million mark, we’ll celebrate by blowing the lid off the level cap! In the immediate aftermath, new ranks and armor will be made magically available for you inside The Armory, provided you have the rank and credits required.”

At the moment the level cap is Lieutenant Colonel Grade Three, with all the credits which an intrepid player gets after attaining the rank pretty much going to waste.

Bungie believes that the numerous and engaged gaming community built around Halo: Reach will reach the new target at some point during the month of November.

Bungie has also offered a lot of new statistics about how the game is being played.

The company says that 16,445 years have been spent playing the game in single and multiplayer with 3,900,000 screenshots of the action uploaded by gamers.

544,000,000,000 credits have been earned and all of this happened in a little more than one month since the game arrived in the middle of September.

Halo: Reach puts the player in the combat boots of a Spartan which fights with a team of other warriors on Reach, the main industrial center of the UNSC, as the Covenant assault and, finally, glass it.

Despite the fact that the outcome of the fight is pretty well known by fans of the Halo universe Bungie manages to inject a sense of tension in the game by linking the protagonist with Master Chief and the Pillar of Autumn.

The game was the highest selling in the NPD Group numbers for September, moving more than 3,3 million units.
