Halo: Reach, currently one of the biggest titles to hit this fall, appearing exclusively for the Xbox 360, will finally get its online campaign matchmaking feature on October 19, according to an announcement from its development studio Bungie.

Halo: Reach has definitely sold a lot of copies all over the world, and is leading the Xbox Live charts in terms of online matches, but Bungie continues to improve the title through patches and updates.

We've already seen the first one hit last week, fixing a lot of exploits and adding a few new features, but gamers are really expecting the campaign matchmaking one, which was announced some time ago.

Now, Bungie has finally committed to a release date, saying that the update will hit on October 19, if everything with the testing and reviewing process goes smoothly.

"We just did an update this past Tuesday and we’ve got another one teed up for approximately 10/19 (pending final testing and review). This next mid-month update will include the addition of the Campaign Matchmaking playlist along with quite a few other tweaks and improvements to existing playlists."

"The final changes are subject to change and pending final test review but it’s our hope to roll out a dedicated Infection and Snipers playlist amidst a slew of other changes," revealed the studio in its weekly update.

Campaign matchmaking was set to be included in the final build of the game, but due to some technical issues, and the fact that the feature might have spoiled the story of the game, which shows how the whole war between the USNC and The Covenant started.

Bungie also says that a few more updates will hit in the following weeks and months, and that it will continue to monitor and take action against cheaters, like last week's credit reset for 15,000 Halo: Reach players that used an exploit to get more in-game cash.

Are you excited about campaign matchmaking feature finally hitting Halo: Reach or you still haven't played through the single-player story?
