The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that they are moving the start date for the Halo Championship Series Online Cup 3 to January 11 of next year because of the problems that both the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live have been experiencing since Christmas Day.

The two companies are saying that the decision was made in order to make sure that the entire competition runs as smoothly as possible when it starts and is fair to all involved gamers.

The official announcement apologizes for the delay and adds, “We are grateful and appreciative of your dedication, and apologize for the same-day notice on this cancellation. Should a similar situation arise in the future, 343 Industries and ESL will ensure that players are informed of such decisions much earlier. We once again apologize for the inconvenience and miscommunication.”

Recently, the Flaming Skull update was delivered for the Championship playlist in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, designed to make a range of changes to the way the various modes and maps work, all of them intended to improve the player experience.

343 Industries says that gamers should continue to offer feedback in order to make sure the competitive side of the shooter continues to evolve.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection still needs long-term support

The new title from 343 Industries and Microsoft was launched on November 11 with a range of problems, most of them linked to matchmaking and connection stability, which meant that the Championship series started later than initially planned.

Since then, the developers have introduced a series of updates for the Xbox One package, and at the moment most of the community can get into games easily, although there still are some who are unable to enjoy the multiplayer experience.

Free Xbox Live and exclusive in-game content is promised to all those who have supported the title and there are plans to add more maps for free in the coming weeks.

The Halo 5: Guardians beta stage is now live for a three-week period for all those who have picked up The Master Chief Collection and allows gamers to test a number of new mechanics.
