The trademak Halo songs will be performed by an orchestra

We've had our share of game OST concerts, since most of the gamers always remember a unique tune after playing a certain title. Some of the best orchestral scores are featured in the best-selling series Final Fantasy and Silent Hill and now Halo 3 joins the gang, having its score included in the Video Games Live concert.

While many of us didn't even know that such an event exists, we can hardly wait to listen to Marty O'Donnell's music, composed for the long-awaited Halo 3 title. The Video Games Live concert will take place on October 22 at the Royal Festival Hall and the Philharmonia Orchestra will play some of the best gaming tunes available. Listen to the funky Mario score, the peaceful Zelda OST or the brilliant Final Fantasy songs and of course Halo 3's score. Will Akira Yamaoka's scary tunes be included, too? I hope so, because the Silent Hill series is 90 percent audio terror...

A superb audio experience also awaits the older gamers, who will probably enjoy listening to the antique scores of classic titles like Pong, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and even Tetris. A couple of violins and a piano can make all the difference converting an average soundtrack into a work of art. We've seen strange changes of tune, like the famous Sephiroth tune from Final Fantasy VII being turned into a rock song and included in the Advent Children movie soundtrack.

Will Halo 3's soundtrack live up to the game's hype and expectations? If it manages to simulate 10 percent of the feeling we'll experience while playing the game, we'll be content. Otherwise, it's going to be just another October night classical music concert. To think that people label gamers as fanatics that don't quite fit the classical music listener profile. Now's our chance to prove the general opinion wrong and get the best out of those superb OST tunes.
