In 2008, they became parents of a gorgeous baby girl, but insisted they had no immediate plans of marrying because their relationship was perfect just as it was. Something must have gone wrong in the meantime, as Aubry has pulled the plug on the relationship, Radar Online reports.
According to the paparazzi agency, the model decided things were not working out anymore and suggested to Halle they split. The two have parted ways in a very amicable manner and have already seen attorneys for a financial agreement and custody arrangements. Though not married, the two did share some property together, so a visit to an attorney was a must, not to mention that they wanted to have a clean break, focusing on their daughter’s best interest, says the aforementioned e-zine.
“Radar Online has learned that Halle and Gabriel have called it quits and worked out a financial and custody deal. They spent months hammering out a deal with a lawyer, Radar Online learned. A source close to the situation tells Radar Online that Gabriel was the one who pulled the plug on their five year relationship and that the age difference – he’s 34, she’s 43 – played a role,” the e-zine writes.
“Gabriel just felt it wasn’t working anymore. When they were first together the 9-year age difference between them didn’t phase him, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever dated and he was totally in love. But as time went on he started feeling it more and more. […] Gabriel is a really nice, decent guy and he would never cheat on her, but I suspect that he had become attracted to someone and that he felt he needed to break it off with Halle before anything developed any further,” an unnamed source says for Radar.
When they were first asked about plans to get married, meaning shortly after the birth of their daughter, Halle insisted they did not need that to love each other more. The Oscar-winning actress already had two bad marriages under her belt, which had made her adamant to give love a try without tying the knot. At the time, she thought Gabriel would be the one.
