14 DAY TRIAL // The second installment in the rebooted “X-Men” franchise isn’t out until May but Halle Berry, who reprises her role as Storm in “Days of Future Past,” is already promoting it. And here’s an interesting bit she reveals about shooting for it: she was pregnant at the time.
She hadn’t announced it yet but, she tells Queen Latifah on her show, she had to inform producers on the movie so that they could shift the entire shooting schedule around her, to get her scenes before she was starting to show too much.
“I was three months pregnant. It was different. I had to shoot really fast. Two weeks was about as much as I could do before I was busting out of the suit,” Halle explains laughing.
When a leading actress becomes pregnant during the making of the movie, it is customary for her to shoot as many scenes as possible quickly. Whatever other scenes are left are handled with attention to details, so the camera never offers a full body shot, and wardrobe and makeup, and set designers put in the extra hours to do whatever they can to mask the bump.
Penelope Cruz’s pregnancy during “Pirates of the Caribbean” is said to have landed Disney in quite a pickle, but it doesn’t seem like it was a problem with Halle.
