14 DAY TRIAL // After she divorced husband Eric Benet in 2005, in what was one of the nastiest separations at the time, Hollywood beauty Halle Berry decided never to make the same mistake again. Now a happy mother to a gorgeous baby girl and in a committed relationship with one of the most appreciated male models of the moment, Gabriel Aubry, Berry sticks to the promise she made herself back then by promising never to marry again.
In a new interview with the British tab the Daily Mail, the actress says that, while she has everything in life she could have asked for, marriage still remains off her priorities list. Twice a divorcee, she has learned her lesson that nothing lasts “for ever,” so she chooses instead to live her life and enjoy every minute of it without being tied to another person by marriage. In all fairness, she does have plenty to enjoy, as she puts it herself: a gorgeous man with whom she connects on all levels and a gorgeous daughter.
“I’m so not the relationship go-to girl. But I’m much clearer about what a relationship is, which is why I will never marry again. Gabriel and I have a great partnership and a lovely daughter. But I once was stupid enough to say, in a previous relationship, ‘I’m going to be with this person for ever,’ and realized, as I grew, that I don’t know if for ever is possible.” Berry says in the interview. Gabriel, it seems, is on the same page as her as regards this view on commitment in a relationship.
“Gabriel and I don’t look at our relationship in terms of for ever, we look at it as right here today. And today means being the best people we can be, the best parents we can be. It’s wonderful, but neither one of us feels the need to attach ourselves to each other for life – because it may not be that. We clicked instantly. And yes, he’s not at all bad on the eyes. I don’t know if younger men are easier to get on with because they’re not so set in their ways; all I know is that he’s easy for me to get along with.” the actress says of the father of her child.
Halle and Gabriel met on the set of a fashion photo shoot, and instantly connected. Since November 2005, they have been practically inseparable and, despite rumors saying that they were considering tying the knot, both repeatedly shot down talk of a wedding. What they do not rule out completely, though, is the possibility of expanding their family with another child.
