14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft and Real Madrid have an on-going partnership that brought Surface tablets and Windows Phone devices to some of the most famous football players in the whole world, but the companies are finally ready to extend this partnership with some official apps.
The first to get this is Windows Phone, so users of Microsoft’s mobile platform can now download the official Real Madrid app from the store and keep an eye on everything related to the football team right from their handsets.
The app was first announced by Satya Nadella and Jose Angel Sanchez, the club’s CEO, at the Ignite conference in early May, with the Real Madrid official confirming that the release would take place.
“The club has around 450 million supporters worldwide. Of these 450 million, more than 120 million are connected through the digital ecosystem, following us in social networks, or on our website, but only 3 percent of them are in Spain. That gives you an idea of how international the audience is. How global it is,” Sanchez said when announcing the app.

The official Real Madrid app’s feature lineup includes tools to watch replays from the latest matches of the team, see the highlights of the top matches, get exclusive access to Real Madrid TV with HD support, get real-time match statistics, read news and watch official videos, check out the schedule, and receive access to the Real Madrid store.
Needless to say, the app is offered free of charge and is set to arrive on Windows 8 PCs in the coming weeks, before eventually being offered to users as a universal app in Windows 10.
For those hoping to see a Windows Phone app for FC Barcelona, that’s not going to happen, as Microsoft seems to be quite a fan of Real Madrid, so teaming up with the rivals wouldn’t be quite the best strategy for the software giant.
