The Hair of the Dog craft brewers in the United States are selling brew that goes for $2,000 (€1,480) per bottle.
The high price only buys you a 12-ounce (350-ml) bottle, Beer Served Rare reports. This brew is quite unique – it was prepared by repeated freezing of Hair of the Dog beer. It is sold under the label “Dave.”
“Dave” beer was prepared in 1994 out of a 300-gallon (1,100-liter) stock. Freezing in several stages brought down the quantity to less than 100 gallons (380 liters).
It has won a gold medal at the 1998 Toronado Barleywine Festival in San Francisco. A bottle of the premium beer has sold at auction in November 2012 for $4,525.36 (€3,350).
The product is now available at the company brewery in Portland and all proceeds from sales go to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
